Canada Day 2022 is different than the previous Canada Days. The past few years have shed a light on the shortcomings that Canada’s past created. As respect, many people are wearing orange shirts today.

I am still proud to be Canadian. The fact that we as a society can look back and accept responsibility for what occurred is promising. The fact that indigenous people are letting the rest of the country know that healing is beginning is a good sign.

I am proud to call Canada my home. And however you may or may not celebrate today, know that we are all in this together.
