Pink Super Moon

It seems the clouds stayed away last night in order for those of us awake to enjoy the Pink Super Moon. It was moments like that which made me want a better camera than just my iPhone.

So for today’s blog, I went online and found some pictures in order to share. Now to be honest, it was definitely a large looking full moon. But the pink was not nearly as prominent as I originally thought it would be. It was still really neat looking with more of a Himalayan Pink Salt hue to it.

From where I worked, the moon appeared vibrant and shiny. I am looking forward to setting up my telescope once more to check out the night sky. Currently having trees tends to obscure those types of views.

Perhaps I will become a more avid sky gazer in our next house.

Did you see the pink super moon last night? Or perhaps you even took some spectacular photos. Please share them with me, I’d love to see them

Vibrant Mediocrity

If I’m not taking pictures of my family and friends, I am usually taking pictures of food or nature. Skylines and trees are my personal favorites.

Sometimes I take a photo “just because.” It could be a picture of a movie title or a unique object. (Sorry… side quest… is it “a” or “an” before the word “unique”? Let me know in the comments if I was correct, and why.) The other day I took the following picture:

It is not one of my better pictures. But the colours and shapes on the kitchen counter bring me joy. Here are the reasons why:

The green glass bowl– I have always loved shaped and coloured glass. The wavyness of this bowl is fun. There’s even a little matching bowl inside.

The red apples– Apples are my favorite fruit. These were nearly perfect apples as well.

The blue canister– It holds fresh ground coffee. Need I say more?

The silver canister– Holds our sugar for coffee and baking. For the little sweetness needed in our lives.

All of them lined up in our kitchen awaiting their turn to be used. To me, the colours just pop. I could’ve used a filter, or adjusted my angle. Each item is as vibrant in their emotional impact for me as are the colours. I ended up overlooking the art aspect of how to take a good photo.

This picture is a Vibrant Mediocrity. And that’s okay as well. Giving it a title like that turns it into art.

Renew The DL

It’s almost my birthday and that meant it was time to get my Driver’s License renewed. It’s been five years since the last time. I swear that besides changing my address over the years- since I was 17 none of my vitals have changed. Or at least the Licensing place never changes the height and weight information.

This afternoon I went to the ICBC Driver’s Licensing Center expecting a long wait to get my new photo id. Instead, I was in and out of there so quick that I didn’t have time to get one last picture of my old license. I walked right up to the counter and was quickly ushered to where my picture would be taken and boom I was out the door.

Perhaps getting my new five year picture after a night shift wasn’t the best idea. I saw the black and white photo for a second and it definitely looks like I’m a criminal. But I also realize that my I.D. is rarely pulled out, so who cares what I look like. In fact most people don’t look at the image, just the address.

This is also the first time that I’ve not had to pay extra for any speeding tickets. I’ve been good- I swear. I’ll behave for the next five years too. Really…
